Recycling Program

Recycling Project

When does The Recycling Program meet?

Monday through Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday: 10:00 a.m. – noon. Participants can choose days of involvement and usually volunteer 2 to 4 hours per week. The program is ongoing, participants can stay in the program for as long as it is benefiting them.

The Recycling Program provides skill development opportunities for participants while supporting a worthwhile community initiative of saving the environment and a valuable service for the clientelle of the Centre.

The Recycling Program provides participants with:

  • Skill development in a supportive setting
  • Social interaction in a relaxed work atmosphere
  • Increased awareness of the benefits of community recycling
  • An opportunity to assist in providing a valuable service to the Centre’s clientelle
  • An opportunity to volunteer in a non-hectic, non-stressful environment

Elements Calgary Mental Health Centre receives donations of household items from the general public. Participants volunteer their time and work with staff to sort, clean and repair or refinish donated items which are then priced and displayed for sale at our recycling sales.

The sales are held bi-weekly for the Centre’s clientelle as well as a monthly, The Hidden Treasures Market, for the general public. Sales are run by the participants with staff support. These sales offer a rewarding experience for participants and help generate funds that are used to enhance programs at Elements Calgary Mental Health Centre.
